How to choose the right size

The maximum flow in the data sheet applies at 7 bar air pressure, open discharge and water. Back pressure, long suction lines and the density and viscosity of the fluid reduce the actual flow. If your requirement is at the upper end of the range, choose the next larger pump – it runs slower, uses less air and lasts longer.

Good to know: air-operated diaphragm pumps can be throttled steplessly to almost 0 l/min via air pressure and air volume. They run most economically and with least wear at about 25–80 % of their maximum flow. That is why a pump appears in several ranges here – choose the range you actually need to pump.

Consider density and viscosity

Density and viscosity of the fluid are decisive for the selection – they have a considerable influence on the effective flow rate. Viscous fluids such as resins, adhesives or chocolate reduce the flow significantly and require larger suction lines and a slower stroke rate. Heavy fluids such as slurries or cements increase the required air pressure. Please state density (kg/dm³) and viscosity (mPa·s) in your enquiry.
