Not every pumping task needs a large pump. For laboratories, pilot plants, sampling, transferring from canisters or supplying dosing stations, small diaphragm pumps are the right choice. Compact Versamatic® air-operated diaphragm pumps offer the same advantages as their larger siblings: they can run dry, are self-priming and need no electrics.

Applications for small diaphragm pumps

  • Laboratory and pilot plant: transferring chemicals, test set-ups, small batches
  • Dosing and feeding additives, colour concentrates or cleaning agents
  • Sampling from tanks and pipes
  • Emptying canisters and small containers – see also Emptying drums and IBCs
  • Inks and printing inks in printing machines
  • Machine building / OEM: as a component in cleaning, dosing and filling systems

Why a small air-operated diaphragm pump?

Electric miniature pumps are often the first choice for very small flows in the ml/min range. As soon as aggressive chemicals, solvents, solids or hazardous areas come into play, the small AODD pump plays to its strengths:

  • No motor, no electrics – conductive versions for hazardous areas (ATEX)
  • Chemically resistant thanks to polypropylene and PVDF housings with PTFE or Santoprene® diaphragms
  • Can run dry and are self-priming
  • Infinitely variable via air pressure – very slow stroke rates are also possible
  • Light and mobile – only about 1.5 kg in plastic versions

Which small diaphragm pump is right?

  • Up to approx. 19 l/min and very compact installation space: 1/4" E6
  • Up to approx. 26 l/min or fluids with small particles: 3/8" E8
  • Up to approx. 53 l/min or a metal housing required: 1/2" E5

All pumps up to 45 l/min can be found under Diaphragm pumps up to 45 litres per minute.

Frequently asked questions

What is the smallest air-operated diaphragm pump in the shop?

The Versa-Matic E6 with 1/4" connection and up to 19 l/min flow rate.

Are there manual diaphragm pumps?

Yes, hand-operated diaphragm pumps exist, e.g. for bilges or emergency emptying. For regular use, a small air-operated diaphragm pump is much more convenient and powerful.

Can I build a small diaphragm pump into a machine?

Yes. Thanks to the simple air connection and low weight, the small sizes are well suited as components in systems. For series requirements, please contact us.

Small pump, wide choice of materials.
