Air-operated diaphragm pumps handle solids gently without rotating parts that could clog or wear. The passage through the valves is decisive: ball valves suit fine to medium solids, flap valves large and fibrous solids. A high solids content increases the density of the fluid – then rather choose a larger size.

Consider density and viscosity

Density and viscosity of the fluid are decisive for the selection – they have a considerable influence on the effective flow rate. Viscous fluids such as resins, adhesives or chocolate reduce the flow significantly and require larger suction lines and a slower stroke rate. Heavy fluids such as slurries or cements increase the required air pressure. Please state density (kg/dm³) and viscosity (mPa·s) in your enquiry.
