PTFE

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) offers almost universal chemical resistance – to concentrated acids and alkalis as well as solvents, fuels and oxidisers. In air-operated diaphragm pumps PTFE is used as a one-piece FUSION diaphragm or as a 2-piece diaphragm with an elastomer back-up, because PTFE itself has little elasticity. Pumps with this check valve are rated for fluid temperatures up to 175 °C (see the data sheet of each version).

Typical fluids

Aggressive chemicals, solvents, paints, high-purity fluids and any application where chemical compatibility is uncertain.

Typical applications

  • Acids: mineral and organic acids
  • Solvents: aromatic and aliphatic solvents, ketones, aldehydes, esters, chlorinated hydrocarbons, de-icers
  • Coatings: emulsions, latex, pigments, resins, solvents, thinners
  • Electroplating: aggressive acids and salts, residual sludges, waste water, neutralisation, caustic soda, ferric chloride
  • Pharma: liquids, creams and additives

Limits

With highly abrasive slurries PTFE wears faster than Santoprene or Neoprene – worth comparing.

Matching pumps in our range

Versamatic air-operated double diaphragm pumps with this feature are available in these versions:

All matching pumps are listed below – use the filters to narrow down flow rate, port size and materials.

Note: material information is for guidance only. Medium, concentration and temperature are decisive – if in doubt we check compatibility for your fluid.

Not sure which pump fits? Send us your medium, flow rate, pressure, temperature, density and viscosity – we will check the selection and reply with an offer.
