from 2 m

Pumps achieving a dry suction lift of at least 2 m. Air-operated diaphragm pumps are self-priming: they prime from an empty suction line and can run dry without damage.

Dry suction lift matters when the pump has to draw from a lower container, drum, tank or pit. With a primed (wet) suction line the suction lift is considerably higher. Viscous or heavy fluids and long suction lines reduce the achievable lift.

Typical applications

  • Oils: petroleum, crude oil, diesel, heating oil, hydraulic and cutting oils, lubricants, greases, edible oils
  • Waste water & sludge: waste water, filter press feed, sewage sludge, softening and lime sludges, coal and coke slurries
  • Fire service & marine: bilge and drain pumping, leakage and emergency pumping
  • Acids: mineral and organic acids

Consider density and viscosity

Density and viscosity of the fluid are decisive for the selection – they have a considerable influence on the effective flow rate. Viscous fluids such as resins, adhesives or chocolate reduce the flow significantly and require larger suction lines and a slower stroke rate. Heavy fluids such as slurries or cements increase the required air pressure. Please state density (kg/dm³) and viscosity (mPa·s) in your enquiry.
